A purebred Pug is one of the most recognizable and loved small dog breeds available. Anyone familiar with the breed will tell you they are a lot of dog in a small package!
Pugs are believed to have originated in Asia before 400 BC, making this one of the older canine breeds. The exact origins are a little sketchy with several theories abounding. Some have the breed descending from short-haired Pekinese while others have them coming from a rare French Mastiff. It is known that the Pug was a fashion accessory for European courts during Victorian Times, and was also a favorite pet for Tibetan monasteries.
