Guide Dog Training For The Disabled

Filed Under Pets | Posted on February 26, 2008

Who said that “the dog is man’s best friend” didn’t talk nonsense, and the saying is old enough to confirm its value of truth: not only is the dog a reliable friend and a playful giddy presence, but if passed through the “fire” of a guide dog training, he can become the only support a person with disabilities has, when going out, helping them and teaching them in return how to live. The experts that transform the animals into indispensable professionals are very patient and have different special methods to do so. Certain dogs have become famous in the industry of film-making, in police- the capture of wrongdoers and the finding of narcotics –have guided blind people out of their homes for the first time and so on. These are the heroes of the species, and they need a far more complicated method of training than the usual.

Dry Food Versus Canned - Your Cats Health Is In The Balance

Filed Under Pets | Posted on February 26, 2008

If you feed your kitty dry food, you may be setting him up for feline diabetes and urinary tract problems. Your furry friend is an “obligate carnivore,” which means that he needs to be getting his protein requirements from a meat-based diet, not a grain-based one. His body is not built to digest plant proteins like corn, wheat, and rice efficiently.

Guess what most commercial dry foods are made of? You’ve got it–corn, wheat, and rice. And this includes dry foods formulated especially for diabetic cats. Feeding a kitty with this disease a diet high in carbohydrates has been compared to pouring gasoline on a fire and wondering why you can’t put it out.

Oops.

Never fear. I have come up with some suggestions to round out your holiday shopping for the 4-legged barking family member who may have been nice but who more than likely was a little naughty this year. Continuation of Day Seven

Around ten that night Kathy called me back upstairs to check out a noise she heard in the kitchen, one of the sticky traps was turned over and in the middle of the floor. We started the watch routine again and we sat quietly in the dark for over hour. I remembered an old wire trap that I had in the building out back, this was about ten inches by eighteen inches and has a door on each end with the bait on a trip platform in the middle, I set it up and baited it with the peanut butter, block of the remaining door opening and waited again. Kathy retired around eleven and I camped out on the love seat in front of the fireplace where I could watch the kitchen door way by the night light.

Cat Proof Your Home Now

In many ways it may be easier to baby proof your home than to cat proof it. After all, there are many products on the market to help parents keep their children safe. There are fewer places to go for assistance when trying to make your home safe for your cat.

Cats are great at getting into everything. Felines can often deftly open the doors on cupboards, so it can be a wise precaution to add child safety latches to the cupboards where household cleansers and other potentially toxic compounds are stored. This can also be helpful in the bathroom if your cat has a habit of playing in the toilet paper that is stored under a sink.
